BatStateU melds AI tech into Tilapia and Lettuce Farming

Batangas State University in partnership with Turbulent Drip Sales Incorporated and the Department of Science and Technology developed an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Program to maintain the aquaponics system integrated in tilapia and lettuce farming.

This AI program monitors the water volume, fish waste, and nutrient composition of water to irrigate the lettuce farm. “Dito (AI software and devices) tayo naging innovative,” said BSU Project Leader Dr. Anton Louise De Ocampo in his interview with One News. The AI program leads a methodized, automated approach to maintaining a desirable balance of fish, water and bacteria.

This use of AI in aquaponics is a first in the Philippines— a testament to Batangas State University’s goals of productivity and innovation.
