The City Government of Lipa successfully held its first-ever Lipa City Tourism Summit 2025, bringing together government officials, tourism experts, business leaders, and students from different schools to promote culture, heritage, and tourism. Mayor Eric B. Africa expressed his strong support to position Lipa as a top tourist destination in Batangas and the region.
Led by Ms. Aylene Acorda, MIHTM – OIC Tourism, who delivered the opening message and presented the Lipa Tourism Development Plan, the summit also featured key personalities such as Councilor Venice Manalo, Chairperson of Tourism, Cultural and Historical Affairs; Vice Mayor Mikee Morada; DOT Undersecretary Myra Paz Valderrosa-Abubakar; Regional Director Marites Torres Castro (DOT Region IV-A); and Ms. Jaide Castillo, OIC PTCAO.
Anchored on the city’s tourism campaign theme, “Eat Pray Love Lipa,” the program highlighted the city’s strengths in food, faith, and culture.
Under the “Eat” component, renowned chef Myrna D. Segismundo delivered a talk on “Our Food, Our Heritage” which was complemented by local culinary exhibits and tasting corners showcasing Lipa’s unique flavors.
For the “Pray” aspect, Msgr. Ruben M. Dimaculangan of the Metropolitan Cathedral of San Sebastian shared the story “Kasaysayan ng Bayan sa Sagradong Tahanan: Lipa Cathedral’s Legacy,” emphasizing the city’s deep roots in faith tourism.
Meanwhile, the “Love” component focused on lifestyle and culture, where Mr. Joel U. Peña, President of the Lipa City Tourism Council, inspired students with his message “Live Well, Travel More,” and Dennis Marasigan, Vice President of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, discussed the importance of the arts in local tourism and introduced possible arts-based tourism initiatives.
Cultural performances added color to the event with presentations from Lipa Integrated Performing Arts, De La Salle Voices, Lipa Actors Company, and Cuerdas del San Isidro, while exhibitors highlighted the city’s resorts, hotels, wellness centers, restaurants, and local products. Tourism students from Lipa City Colleges, De La Salle Lipa, Royal British College, STI College, and NU Lipa also actively joined the summit, reflecting the youth’s vital role in the city’s tourism growth.
