Later, Christianity reached the Philippines. As a result, the meaning of the dance changed. The people offered the Subli to the Mahal na Poong Sta. Cruz of Bauan. Since then, it has become a symbol of faith, thanksgiving, and devotion. Even today, the people of Bauan continue to protect and practice this tradition.
Although some parts of the dance have changed, its purpose remains the same. Some dance figures are now shorter to fit modern programs. In addition, many of the original dancers have grown older. Even so, the members continue to perform the Subli with respect, faith, and sincerity.
