Holiday Inn & Suites Batangas Lima Park is joining other IHG Hotels & Resorts properties across the Philippines in committing to making some food offerings plant-based by 2027. The initiative covers restaurant menus, room service, and banquet catering, reflecting a growing focus on health, sustainability, and guest well-being.
Executive Chef Mike Santiago is leading the development of new plant-based dishes, formalizing efforts already in place to promote healthier food choices. Hotel Manager Mariesol Saballa said the move strengthens the hotel’s commitment to responsible dining and environmental stewardship.
IHG’s shift toward more plant-based menus was recognized by international NGO Lever Foundation as one of the most comprehensive efforts of its kind in the local hospitality sector. The group cited research showing that plant-based proteins can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 90%, while also requiring significantly less land and water than animal-based ingredients.
The transition supports a more sustainable guest experience and aligns with IHG’s global vision of more conscious hospitality through its “Journey to Tomorrow” program.
