Vilma’s Lechon is a family run business located in Brgy. Bolbok, Lipa City, with a branch in Darasa, Tanauan City, which provides crispy and delicious Lechong Baboy and Lechong Baka with their signature sauce.

The History

Inspired by the legacy left by their parents, Vilma’s Lechon was conceptualized in the 1970s through the hard works of Mr. Felix Leynes and Mrs. Vilma Leynes. Before putting up the lechon business, Mr. Felix Leynes used to supply pigs to one of the most popular Lechon establishments in Manila where he learned the tricks of the trade, eventually put up his own.

In 1983, Vilma’s Lechon was formally opened to the public. Like any other startups, it was not a smooth sail at first. They had their fair share of non-paying customers and scammers. Nonetheless, through continuous innovations and catching of the trend and staying resilient, the establishment was able to overcome these setbacks.

The Lechon

The secret, as per Vilma’s Lechon, is in the pig and cow itself. Mr. Felix Leynes, up to this day, still personally does the trade and quality control of their primary ingredient.

Procedure
Upon arrival from the city’s slaughterhouse, the carcass is first inspected and goes through secondary cleaning. Then, it is affixed on a steel pole and then stuffed with a mixture of herbs and spices. (They are also open to clients’ special requests in terms of flavorings and stuffing.) Once sewn up, the carcass is rubbed with a combination of milk and water which gives the lechon that enticing red color. The pig is roasted over charcoal fire for around two and a half hours – depending on size – while continuously lathered with oil.

As for the lechong baka, after being slaughtered, it is affixed on a specially produced steel pole. Unlike with Lechon Baboy, the taste of the Lechong Baka does not come from the stuffing but from a specially concocted marinate that has been with the family for years. It is then roasted over charcoal fire and checked from time to time.

Their famous sauce, on one hand, has gone through years of experimenting and perfecting to ensure that it would stand out among its competitors.

The Staff

They are really friendly and accommodating. Since it is a family owned business and their home serve as the primary business center, the whole family has had a habit of personally catering to their clients’ needs, together with their equally accommodating staff. Despite unpleasant and sometimes depleting experiences with previous customers, they still strive to provide their customers with the best tasting lechon for their festivities and occasions.

Eatery

Later on, Mrs. Vilma Leynes decided to open an eatery to go along their lechon business. They serve house specialties like lechon, lechong paksiw, and dinuguan.

Client

Over the years, they were able to supply lechon to popular resorts, companies, and fiestas not just in the province of Batangas but also in Metro Manila and other neighboring provinces. They have also had clients who brought the product overseas.

Fariñas Ilocos Empanada, located at Dayton Food Park, Ayala Highway, Lipa City, is one of a handful of genuine Ilokano Restaurants in the province of Batangas. They serve authentic Ilocos Empanada and the all-time Filipino favorite Bagnet in a variety of savory and delicious dishes.

History

The Manila branches of Farinas Ilocos Empanada are doing really well, as observed by the Tiu Family of San Jose, Batangas who are the main supplier of eggs in all the branches. When the opportunity came, the Tiu Family grabbed it and decided to introduce the brand here in Lipa City. It was an immediate hit, as most Batanguenos have been to Vigan and Ilocos Province, and already knew of the tasty Ilocos Empanada.

The Restaurant

The restaurant which can be seen along Ayala Highway is a combination of modern materials and the traditional flair of Vigan houses. There are a few tables on the first floor and a very spacious second floor for a lot of families and friends to fit into. The kitchen is very clean and the cooks all have the proper tools in preparing the food.

The Menu

Immediately we dove into a handful of Ilocos Empanada and were inundated with the musky taste of the longganisa and the rich texture of the papaya and egg fillings. The crunchy exterior gave a fulfilling-sound to every bite, and if you close your eyes it is as if you are transported in the streets of Vigan.

Aside from the empanada, you might want to try the bagnet dishes as well, like the sisig and the pakbet. Another hit is the savory Poque Poque, a dish made of eggs, tomatoes, onions and eggplant.

Located in Ayala Highway, the food avenue of Lipa City, Ka Jec’s Bangihan is a grill restaurant with a lot of parking space, cool ambiance, great hangout seats, and an awesome Filipino street food menu.

Their bestseller is the Isaw (or grilled Chicken Intestines). Instead of eating it in noisy, polluted and smelly streetside (with probably unhealthy sauces), you get to enjoy your isaw with your friends seated on picnic chairs and tables with proper edison-bulb lighting listening to a live acoustic band on some days.

Another can’t-miss on the menu is the turon, a flavorful blend of bananas, sesame seeds, butter, and sugar, that will make you forget you had just street food, and will probably make you order some more for take-out.

Ka Jec’s General Manager Ms. Eena Morada was very accommodating and served us the best food that most of their customers like.

Definitely, no one can say no to Yeiz Tea Taiwan Milk Tea and Fruit Tea. Yes, this is another milk tea shop review but it tastes like no others!

Opened in a corner beside Lipa City Colleges, Yeiz Tea boasts of their perfect blend of milk tea flavors and smoothies.

It’s another milk tea craze to include in our bucket lists to try on!

About the Owner

[gallery link="file" ids="52804,52806,52802,52803,52805"]

Engr. Yesly Amor Maglinao Bustria is the owner of Yeiz Tea, an own brand of milk tea shop that mixes tastes in Lipa City. She is a Licensed  Geodetic Engr., Owner of Bustria Land Surveying, Licensed Real Estate Broker and the current Director for Geodetic Engineer Batangas Chapter.

She really loves milk teas and the idea of having a shop, after a failed supposed franchise of a milk tea brand because of some legal matters, she entered an idea of establishing her own brand instead. She trained in Manila for Milk Tea, Fruitea and Smoothie making.

Engr. Yesly made sure that the tastes of Yeiztea products are modified depending on her taste preference and what she really thinks people would love too.

About the Business

[gallery link="file" ids="52808,52810,52809"]

Yeiz Tea Taiwan Milk Tea & Fruitea is an own brand of milk tea shop located at Solis St, Cor. Katigbak St., Brgy 11, Lipa City. Last September 18,2019 was its grand opening.

The shop’s name is basically derived from the name of the owner, Engr. Yesly since her college friends used to call her “yeiz” and it has been the suggestion of her sisters.

It offers a variety of sips falling under Milk Teas, Fruiteas, Hot Teas, Smoothies and Pica pica. The staff are happily serving customers with their favorite sips.

Yeiz tea’s patron customers are students and those people who really love their milk teas and all.

For Yeiz Tea’s Loyal customers, they introduced the loyal tea metallic cards that once they filled the 12 slots, the customers are entitled to free milk tea.

Last November 1 they launched the “free 12*12 pillow every end of the month” , that for every purchase is equivalent to 1 raffle entry. Items to be given changes monthly.

Aside from her love for Milkteas, Engr. Yesly is fond of singing, in fact she is planning to have a mini bar or an open stage at the second floor of the shop for customers to freely sing while waiting for their orders and also a conference area for business purposes, she wanted to make this happen before the year ends, or early next year.

Engr. Yesly also mentioned that Yeiz Tea will be opened for franchise soon.

San Antonio Medical Center of Lipa, Inc. is a pioneering health care provider in Lipa City. When it was established in 1970, the hospital was known as San Antonio Maternity and Medical Hospital, because of its basic health care provided by the first US-trained Obstetrician-Gynecologist, Frances N. Reyes and Internist-Cardiologist, Cesar A. Reyes Sr. The hospital kept on improving, in the late 1980s, it became San Antonio General Hospital, a secondary hospital which can support licensed physicians in pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, general surgery and other supporting medical services.

From humble beginnings (primary – secondary – tertiary) it became San Antonio Medical Center of Lipa, Inc. last 2008. As a tertiary medical center, it offers a full complement of medical specialty services and facilities. In addition to these medical specialty services and facilities, the hospital offers specific sub-specialty care such as Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI). New facilities include the Fertility Center and Gynecologic-Minimally Invasive Surgery Center doing a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy.

Presently, there are a lot of other healthcare providers in Batangas province. What sets San Antonio Medical Center of Lipa, Inc. apart from others aside from its services and facilities is its social responsibility to the people. The priority of our institution is its commitment to care for the lives of people through affordable and compassionate healthcare for all.

The owners order the use of hospital facilities and equipment judiciously and do not only consider profit. The hospital has reasonable rates and its doctors charge reasonable professional fees.

With regards to corporate social responsibility, we have incorporated a foundation named San Antonio Medical Center Foundation, Inc. the purpose of which are:
To develop programs that attract the support of corporations, foundations, and organizations and that encourage individuals to contribute philanthropic funds to the hospital throughout their lives.
To raise funds and awareness for projects and services that maintain and improve quality patient care at San Antonio Medical Center of Lipa, Inc. and its affiliates.
To raise and steward funds for the advancement of healthcare in San Antonio Medical Center of Lipa, Inc.

In this regard, San Antonio Medical Center of Lipa, Inc. would like to provide the people of Batangas, pioneering and innovative services and facilities at affordable rates.

San Antonio Medical Center of Lipa, Inc. is moving towards ISO 9001:2008 and hopefully, within the year, we will be the first hospital in Batangas which will be ISO certified.

The humble beginnings of the N.L. Villa Memorial Hospital was initiated by Dr. Nemesio K. Villa, Jr., the youngest son of the late Dr. Villa, Sr. While in the USA, back in 1965, definite plans were already taking shape. Medical equipments were slowly being purchased. His wife, Dr. Norma A. Villa helped and supported her husband’s vision and in 1968, the family went home to the Philippines armed with every minor and major details of the hospital plans where they would plunge into a lifetime endeavor of fulfilling his late father’s dream.

May 31, 1969 saw the birth of the N.L. Villa Memorial Hospital. Phase 1 of the projected medical center was fulfilled and the memory of Dr. Villa, Sr. would live in the institution and his children to whom he left the legacy of service of people through the medical profession.

The institution, through time, adequately served the medical needs of the people of Batangas. It grew by leaps and bounds and finally, on April 12, 1994, the hospital celebrated its Silver Anniversary, marking not just a milestone but the dawn of a new era.

The institution, now a Medical Center, carries state-of-the-art equipments and world class medical practitioners. It has sustained its dynamic growth due to the competence, skills and service oriented ideal of its staff. Despite its tremendous growth, the hospital has maintained its “Open Hospital Policy” ensuring patients continuity of care of their physicians.

Greater and better things are happening and as we expect the opening of the third phase of our hospital, we shall be able to reach out to more patients with more and better facilities. This move shall definitely put to rest what once was tagged as provincial. We are definitely a Medical Center par excellence with a reasonably priced laboratory, diagnostic procedures and other services. Further, with the establishment of the N.L. Villa Memorial Hospital Foundation, medical care is more accessible and affordable edifying the vision of: “serving people through the medical profession”
