Batangas set to become coconut oil processing hub under DA-PRDP

Batangas Province is set to strengthen its coconut industry with a 108.32-million peso coconut oil processing project funded by the Department of Agriculture’s Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP).

The DA-PRDP Scale-Up project, the first of its kind in CALABARZON, will establish a processing facility in Rosario, Batangas, in partnership with local cooperatives .(Agricare Multipurpose Cooperative and Palacpac Malinao San Nicolas Calantas Multipurpose Cooperative) The plant will produce crude coconut oil and copra cake for animal feed, allowing farmers to shift from selling raw coconuts to higher-value products.

The facility will serve at least 1,207 coconut farmers and help meet the growing demand for copra-based products in the province, with several feed mills already committed to product intake.

The Department of Agriculture and the Philippine Coconut Authority will provide continuous technical support.
