Governor Vi and Former Senator Ralph Recto to Join Liberal Party for 2010 Elections

It’s final, the Rectos will run under the Liberal Party (LP). Batangas Governor Vilma Santos-Recto and former Senator Ralph Recto will be joining the team-up of Sen. Noynoy Aquino and Sen. Mar Roxas in the upcoming 2010 elections.

The couple announced their decision on the night of Nov. 14 at the Roxas residence in Quezon City. Recto said it was not an easy decision choosing between LP and the Nationalista Party of Sen. Manny Villar whom Recto considered “a good friend”.

Gov. Vi will seek for re-election as Batangas governor and Ralph, former director of National Economic Development Authority (NEDA), will join the LP senatorial slate together with former Congressman Neric Acosta, former Senator Franklin Drilon, Bukidnon Representative Teofisto Guingona III, Akbayan Representative Risa Hontiveros, detained general Danilo Lim, and former Senator Serge Osmena.

Meanwhile, after Gov. Vi finally decided to join LP and declined the wooing of administration party Lakas-Kampi-CMD to be their Vice Presidential bet, actor Edu Manzano, Gov. Vi’s former husband, was declared as the party’s candidate for VP.
