On Statement Shirts and What They Say About You

WOWBatangas Team participated in the recent Provincial Trade Fair which was part of the celebration of the 429th Foundation Anniversary of Batangas Province. And with that came another first for the team: we sold actual products – the WOWBatangas Tees.

We were overwhelmed with how the public supported our designs that we decided to offer a super limited edition of the “tweet tee” (the one on the photo), now in black. Now what? The reason behind printing those designs is the “affinity” of the prospected buyers (who are Batanguenos) to the festivals and statements printed on the WOWBatangas shirts.

What’s with the affinity or connection? Di ga nga, tangkilikin ang sariling atin? We feel connected to anything that represents where we came from or the group where we belong to. For some, those are more than just symbols or representations. Those are mirrors which reflect the people’s personality.

WOWBatangas Limited Edition T-shirtsYesterday, I was rummaging through the racks of this brand of Filipino products in a mall’s department store when I saw a couple browsing the statement shirts. Then I heard the lady said, “Eh hindi naman ako proud”. I knew right there and then the shirt she was talking about. It has the “Proud Pinoy” print on it, boldly shouting with nationalism. What a statement dearie.

If I happen to be a member of the National Historical Institute, I would probably reacted so disappointed I’d remind her of her roots. I assumed she was just kidding. But who would know if she really was kidding or not? Ikaw, proud Pinoy ka ga?

We choose to buy a statement shirt because (1) we find the statement and the layout cool or ‘astig’ regardless of what it says or (2) it talks about exactly who we are and what our minds think of.

If you are a true blue fan of WOWBatangas.com, would you be proud to wear our designs? We hope so. And wear it proud like how we do. 😉
