How to Jumpstart your Sunday Morning

It depends on what day we’re talking about right? But it’s Sunday here in this part of the world so I’ll rephrase the question. How do you jumpstart your Sunday?

I’m having my breakfast as I’m writing this down. My mom and my lola is currently hearing Sunday mass so there’s no one who would question me why I’m in front of my laptop (and on the dining area pa) this early. Unexpectedly, my brother quips “parang kelangang kelangan mong matapos yan ah!”.

Anyway, when there are no events and no special works on weekends, I usually have lazy mornings. I was supposed to meet my guy at 9am today so I put the alarm on at 7am. Then he told me “5pm na lang”. Okay, so the alarm went on snooze for the next 30 minutes. Lazy morning nga eh.

As much as I wanted to curl up underneath my blanket because it’s really cold again here in Mataasnakahoy, I got up and decided to hear mass before lunch time. I normally eat breakfast alone. People in this house have different schedules so our wake up time depends on what we’ll be doing for the day.

What about you? Are you a Sunday morning or Sunday afternoon person? I love weekend afternoons – OUT of the house. And that is what’s going to happen later as expected. So I’m a Sunday afternoon person. Are your Sunday mornings spent on the church? At home for hours of household chores?

Here are some tips I could share to you on how to make a good start for your Sunday (or any day actually).

1. Say a little prayer. A simple and sincere “thank you for this day” would do. God knows and God hears.

2. Morning rituals. We all have these morning rituals, do them as efficiently as possible.

3. “Good morning”. Call or text your significant other or your BFFs and this would surely make their day extra special. Greet everyone at home and smile.

4. Stretch and breathe. If you’re not a sports buff, you still have to do some exercise. Stretch those muscles and make them feel alive. Every inch of your body needs to be awake by now. And don’t forget to take deep breaths.

5. Drink a glass of water. How many hours were you asleep? You need to rehydrate even if you just got out off your bed from an 8-hour sleep.

6. Fuel up. And yes, my brother is now telling me to eat what he prepared for breakfast. So I have to end this na.

Have a blessed and happy Sunday everyone! 🙂 Smile. God is good and life is beautiful.
