Celebrate UN Day with SM City Lipa’s Parade of Nations, October 23, 2009

Below is the Parade of Nations contest mechanics.

1. The Parade of Nations is open to all public and private schools that offer: preschool, nursery, prep, kindergarten and Grade school (Grade 1- 3).

2. The Parade of Nations is divided into the following contest categories:
a. School with the most number of countries/nations represented
b. School with the most number of students in UN costume
c. Best in UN Costume Award
i. Boy with the Best UN Costume
ii. Girl with the Best UN Costume

3. To join, school must submit a filled-out registration form to the Admin office of the preferred SM mall. The registration form can also be acquired from the Admin office of any SM mall. Deadline of submission of registration form is on October 16, 2009 at 6PM.

4. Participating school must send at least 15 participants (excluding faculty members).

5. School can join in one SM mall only and must choose only one of the following contest categories:
a. School with the most number of countries/nations represented
b. School with the most number of students in UN costume

6. All participating students in UN costume are qualified for the Best in UN Costume Contest Category.

7. Each participant must be:
a. in full costume (of the nation he/she is representing)
b. holding a flag of the country he/she is representing
c. wearing a sash with the name of the country being represented
d. having a number pinned on the participant’s sash

8. The Parade of Nations will start at 2:00PM on October 23 at all SM malls. All participating schools must join the parade.

9. After the parade, the participants will be introduced on stage in groups of 10 at the Event Center for presentation to the judges.

10. Prize for each category as follows:
a. School with the most number of countries/nations represented - P15,000 worth of SM gift certificates
b. School with the most number of students in UN costume - P15,000 worth of SM gift certificates
c. Boy with the best in UN costume will receive P5,000 worth of SM gift certificates
Girl with the best in UN costume will receive P5,000 worth of SM gift certificates

11. Criteria for judging for the Best in UN Costume Contest are as follow:
a. Adherence to country being represented (Is the participant wearing the appropriate costume of the country he/she is representing? Are all parts/items of the costume relevant and coherent?) – 30%
b. Creativity (Mix and match of apparel and accessories which still adhere to the country being represented)– 30%
c. Effort (intricacy of design; more accessories, more props, etc. - which augment the aesthetic aspect of the costume)– 20%
d. Overall Appeal – 20%

12. Decision of the board of judges is final and irrevocable.
