What is sinuam? It is a salty and spicy egg soup usually prepared for women who have just gave birth. Why do San Jose locals have this for their festival? Well, it is simplybecause poutry is the dominant business in the town. Yes, San Jose is the main provider of poutry products inside and outside the province of Batangas. Likewise, this is their way of thanking their patron Saint – (St. Joseph of course) for their business’ success.
When do they celebrate Sinuam Festival? Every 25th day of April, which is also the founding anniversary of San Jose, the local government, schools, NGOs and other establishments in the town, organize the Sinuam Festival.
How do San Jose Folks celebrate it? Like most festivals, they also have street dancing. This is usually participated by students from different schools in San Jose. They showcase their Sinuam (Egg or Chicken) inspired costumes and dance on the street before a number of audiences. They also conduct contests, programs and fun-filled activities for local folks and tourists.
