SM Batangas’ Green Film Festival Pushes Environmental Advocacy

11th_hourAnchored on the desire to strengthen their environmental campaign, SM City Batangas held its first Green Film Festival on November 24, 2009. The movies included in the festival are The 11th Hour, Planet Earth, An Inconvenient Truth, Home at Ligtas Likas: Gubat at Dagat.

I supposed the recent calamities that brought massive destruction to our country are more than enough reasons for us Filipinos to take serious actions in pushing environmental advocacies for the betterment of the Philippines and the world.

Inilunsad noong ika-24 ng Nobyembre ang First Green Film Festival sa SM City Batangas Cinema 4 kung saan libreng ipapalabas sa mga estudyante ang mga award winning at magagaling na documentaries at pelikula mula sa iba’t ibang embassies tungkol sa climate change at kalikasan bilang bahagi ng environmental advocacy at awareness campaign ng nasabing mall.

Ang ribbon-cutting ay isinagawa ni Mayor Eduardo Dimaucha at ng manager ng mall na si Lorence Calingasan.
Unang inilunsad ang festival sa SM Mega Mall, SM North Edsa at SM Mall of Asia kamakailan. Ang mga palabas na ito ay ang The 11th Hour, Planet Earth, An Inconvenient Truth, Home at Ligtas Likas: Gubat at Dagat.

Layunin nitong maipakita ang kagandahan ng planetang ating kinabibilangan sa pamamagitan ng visual medium at ituro ang pangangalaga sa kalikasan para sa mas segurong hinaharap. May 1,500 na estudyante mula sa iba’t-ibang eskwelahan tulad ng Sto. Niño National High School, Batangas National High School at Casa del Bambino Emmanuel Montessory ang nakapanood ngayong araw na ito. Samantala, ang screening naman para bukas ay matutunghayan ng mga estudyante ng Marian Learning Center and Science School, Golden Gate College, Paharang National High School, Batangas City South Elementary School, Cristo Rei Career and Development Institute at Banaba West National High School.
