There are many reasons why tourists love Batangas. I may not be able to list them all down here since they have their own reasons which we may not learn of.
First Reason: The Beaches
Oh, you know we have a lot of beach resorts practically all over the province. We have an amazing shoreline. Divers from all over the Philippines and even from around the globe would agree that we have one of the world’s most exciting diving spots.
Tourists who are staying in Manila and would want a cool dip in the sea but would not want to fly off to the other islands of the country, they would head down here.

Second Reason: Good Food
Anywhere you’d go to the Philippines, there’s always an array of good food. There’s the special bulalo, the comforting lomi and goto, which people from other places would crave for.
Third Reason: The Accommodating Batangueños
Pinoys are hospitable people. We, Batangueños, are among those hospitable, accommodating ones. Agree?
Fourth Reason: Various Activities to Do
What trip are you up to? Recreational, religious, historical, environmental, gastronomical? Tourists can do all these here in Batangas.
Fifth Reason: They Just Do
I’m running out of reasons for the four ones above generally cover everything we could offer. Batangas is just a wonderful place to be at. So if you happen to read this and you haven’t been here in our province, feel free to leave a comment. Ask us where’s the best place to visit in Batangas and we’ll give you a fair list to choose from.

Batangas gubernatorial candidate Armand Sanchez was rushed to the hospital Monday after suffering from heatstroke while campaigning, but his lawyer said his client’s condition was not critical.
In a radio interview, lawyer Ferdinand Topacio said Sanchez was resting and his doctor would release a medical bulletin soon.
“Ang latest na balita ko na-heatstroke po kanina shortly before lunch. Nangangampanya at medyo nahilo so dinala sa hospital, pinagpapahinga po roon (From what I heard Sanchez suffered from a heatstroke shortly before lunch and was rushed to the hospital),” Topacio said over radio dzMM.
A separate radio dzMM report said Sanchez was confined at the Mary Mediatrix Medical Center in Lipa City.
Sanchez’s logistics officer Cesar Reyes refused to confirm the news, but told GMANews.TV that they would release an official statement on Sanchez’s health condition.

Fueled with the desire to have an honest, orderly, and peaceful elections this coming on May 10, members of the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) Regional Police Office launched a weekly prayer vigil.
The prayer vigil that started on April 14 will continue every Wednesday morning until the last week of this month, said Superintendent Jerry Protacio, regional police information officer.
“It is non-sectarian. Religious leaders are to be invited to preside over the Mass and program,” he said in a telephone interview on Sunday.
The prayer vigil is held simultaneously at the provincial and municipal police offices in the region.
In a statement, Chief Supt. Rolando Añonuevo, regional police director, said the vigil aimed “to inculcate the importance of prayer in every (police) personnel and the constituents they serve to seek the blessing of the Almighty God for the successful conduct of Honest, Orderly and Peaceful Elections (Hope),” a campaign of the Philippine National Police Headquarters in Camp Crame.
PNP Director General Jesus Verzosa earlier vowed that the police would not take any illegal order that would compromise the results of the elections.
Protacio said no incident of election-related violence has been reported in Calabarzon since the filing of the certificates of candidacy by politicians aspiring for local positions.
“This is because of the efficient implementation of the election gun ban. Our region has the most number of arrested gun ban violators in the Philippines,” he said.

Good News Kababayans! Additional supply from 3 major power plants will help deter another round of rotational blackouts in Luzon next week, a transmission company official told the abscbnNEWS.com
Power plants that are expected to provide electricity next week are the 1,200-MW Ilijan plant in Batangas which is being run by the Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), the 250-MW Sta Rita plant owned by the First Gen Corporation under the Lopez Group of Companies, and the 370-MW Masinloc coal plant in Zambales owned by Masinloc Power Partners Co., Ltd.
According to Jess Sulit of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines, 3 plants with a generating capacity of around 1,820-MW will be onstream by next week.
“With the addition of these plants, the reserves will be enough to stabilize the grid,” Sulit said, explaining that Luzon needs at least 600-MW as reserves to assure enough supply of power.
With the addition of these plants, the level of reserves will be go beyond the 20% required reserve margin.
“Unless these plants deliver their allocations next week, we would not experience blackouts because supply is sufficient,” Sulit concluded.

Lipa City was awarded as the Most Outstanding Accounting Office, Local Governance Sector, for adopting decentralized accounting system(city level) for year 2008.
The award received by Lipa City Accountant Ma. Belen Villanueva, recognizes the exemplary performance of the city in the criteria of Accuracy,Timeliness, Reliability and Compliance to Accounting Rules and Regulations set by the Commission on Audit(COA).
Together with other Lipa delegates, the City Accountant, Mrs. Villanueva received the prestigious award from AGAP,Inc. held at the L’Fisher Hotel in Bacolod City last Ocotber 12-15, 2009.
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in her message sent to AGAP congratulated the winners of the Outstanding Accounting Offices and members of AGAP, emphasizing that as public accountants, they are in the best position to help the country in coping with the global economic downturn and that by guaranteeing transparency, reliable and cost-effective accounting services to their clients, the reforms that the government has taken over the past years can be safeguarded.
In an interview with Mrs. Villanueva, she pointed out that because of prudent spending by the present administration, the LGU was able to grant its employees the 10% increase in salaries in 2007 and another 10 percent increase in 2008. With the Local Chief Executive effective fiscal management, not only the LGU employees were benefited but also the constituents of Lipa through the appointment of additional funds for other significant projects in the areas of health, education, peace and order and infrastructure as the closing of books posted some P68 million surplus for the year 2008.

SM Land, local governments through Nasugbu municipality and civil society through the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Philippines joined forces to protect the natural coastline resources in Batangas and to ensure all stakeholders can build a greener environment in the province.
Considering that Nasugbu has been subjected to environmental stresses caused by illegal methods of fishing, this move is very timely. Joel Palma of WFF said that they have identified three sites with the biggest potential of being declared marine protected areas (MPAs) because of their biological attributes. The three coves declared MPAs by the municipal council of Nasugbu, Batangas, are Pico de Loro, Santelmo and Etayo found within SM Land’s Hamilo Coast.
Meanwhile, Hamilo Coast is a pioneering residential leisure destination in Nasugbu that is being developed by SM Land. The 5,800-hectare property is an exclusive development that will host master-planned communities amid a rich natural environment. Out of these 5,800 hectares, only 1,800 hectares will be developed, leaving the rest of the property untouched and preserved for environmental sustainability.
Part of the charm of the property is the expansive natural setting, which includes 13 majestic coves situated along the coastline of Nasugbu. These coves add a unique character to this leisure destination and residential haven. Each cove is blessed with mountain ranges, unending views of the South China Sea, and teeming marine and terrestrial life. These also form part of the Verde Passage, which is known as the center of marine biodiversity in the world. This means that the area contains the most number of fish species globally within the Coral Triangle.
SM Land Senior Manager said that Hamilo is dedicated to the preservation of the environment, and it is this type of setting that they aim to provide as a community for our residents. The rehabilitation of Hamilo and the coastal community is so important. Being near Metro Manila, a clean and green Hamilo would help in making neighboring areas more viable through livelihood, sustainability and food security.
