Internet Marketing Seminar for SME’s and Microbusinesses, a successful conclusion

Nothing was able to stop the Likha Internet Team from pushing through with its first major event. Around 200 attendees took part in the Internet Marketing Seminar for SME’s and Microbusinesses held at the Teachers’ Conference Center in Batangas City, Sept. 11, 2009.

The pictures of the event are in our WOWBatangas Facebook profile.

Marketing students from five tertiary schools in Batangas participated in the recently concluded internet marketing seminar. Students from Lyceum University of the Philippines Batangas, Batangas State University (BSU) main campus, BSU Lipa, BSU Rosario, and Mabini College were there to learn about the ins and outs of internet marketing.

The seminar began at around 8:30 in the morning after the online registration. The program formally started with the invocation and the national anthem, after which the hosts gave an overview of the seminar followed by the introduction of the first speaker.

JR Cantos, Likha Internet’s manager, discussed the basics of internet marketing, while the second speaker, Marghil Macuha, talked about the Search Engine Optimization (SEO). The final speaker considered as the “father of Philippine blogging”, Abraham Olandres, shared his inputs on having blogs and social networks as an effective avenue for internet marketing. The speakers generously imparted their personal experiences to make the discussion authentic and abundant of relevant information. After every talk, the participants asked their questions for each speaker through SMS.

Performers from Center for Pop Music Batangas chapter provided the intermission numbers in the morning while in the afternoon, Penelope Matanguihan, Pinoy Idol finalist and another Guitar Tutee artist, wowed the crowd with her two sets of performances.

Another treat for the participants was the raffle draw where training coupons form Center for Pop Music and WOWBatangas t-shirts were given to the winners. The most awaited prize was the SMART Bro Prepaid Kit which was won by a student from Mabini College. Winners were drawn through electronic raffle. Chocolates courtesy of Hershey’s were also given away to the attendees.

The participants also sent in their website ideas through SMS in the “Your Website Idea Contest”. The winning entry will be judged by the speakers and will be announced on the WOWBatangas website.

The organizers would like to thank the event sponsors – SMART, Center for Pop Music, Hershey’s, WOWBatangas.com, and Guitar Tutee.com. The team also extends its gratitude to ABS-CBN TV Patrol Southern Tagalog for the coverage they did in the event.

This seminar would not be possible without the support of the participating schools, the sponsors, the speakers, and the group effort made by the Likha Internet Team. This internet marketing seminar was truly an elating experience for all of us.
