Two More Years on Basic Education, Yes or No?

Are you in favor of adding two more years to your child’s basic education?

The so-called K-12 (kindergarten to 12th grade) is the newest educational reform under the Aquino administration. But the Department of Education (DepEd) will seem to have a hard time implementing the K-12 plan with all the negative reactions from the concerned public.

Parents whose children are still having their basic education are the first ones to raise eyebrows on the proposed plan. Two more years on their child’s schooling means two more years of school expenses. How about those who can’t make both ends meet? Those who still aren’t sure if they can make their graders finish at least the elementary level?

It’s a given fact that the Aquino administration has good intentions in implementing this K-12 plan. But no matter how good these intentions are, there would still be parts of the society who would give them a hard time making this education amendment.

Sadly, the Philippine education system is far behind other countries’. If this K-12 plan would push through, help the concerned parties have that optimism that this would bring our education system a few notches higher. Make everybody realize that yes, we do have quality education here and we are able to produce skillful, well-rounded, and competent young citizens.

On Oct.5, DepEd will present the details of this K-12 plan. Let’s see how the parents, teachers, and students will react to the proposed plan.

NO NO NO… focus first on hiring more teachers and construction of more classrooms… pano naman matututo ang mga bata kung merong 50+ na hina-handle ang mga teachers… and alisin na sa curriculum ang hindi naman talaga kailangan… hindi naman magagamit sa trabaho eh….

The K-12 Program is a big step in our educational system and we still don’t know what DepEd’s plan is. I would probably take a look at the plan first. I just hope that the plan includes a lower student-teacher ratio (so they have to hire more teachers and build more classrooms), a curriculum that can be compressed, if the student (or the parent) decides not to take on the extra years in school.

it’s a big no!there are lot of subjects in the curriculum that is not really essential. additional yr in basic education is not a solution, it would just cause additional burden for parents..

before adding 2 years to basic education, the government should focus first on other problems, like the number of teacher, class rooms and text books and also, let us not forget that even public education requires money.

there are a lot of things to consider before implementing the 12 year basic education.

It may be a big step but first things first..We should know our priorities..We can revamp that but not know..there are lots of unsolved problems in our country like corruption…Some countries may have added two years in basic education but those countries are poorer than the Philippines..

It is absolutely preposterous to add two more years to our basic education years for it will multiply the hardships of filipino parents. Instead, the government should resolve, once and for all, the roots of this hardship- deregulated tuition fees and the escalating fare. Should this be resolved, majority of filipino students can definitely afford to take college courses and eventually get decent jobs. Government people are becoming irrational!!!!

I am in favor of an additional 2 years on basic education in the reason that students will be more matured when they enter high school, it may help them manage their emotions very well and due to this early and unwanted pregnancies will be re Solved in a little by little way.

Look at some other countries, they are progressive for they implied this kind of education style, WHY NOT TRY? NO HARM IN TRYING..
