PNP CALABARZON’s Women and Children’s Desk Officers gathered for regional seminar

Women and Children’s Desk Officers of the Philippine National Police in the CALABARZON attended the Regional Seminar Training on the Investigation of Crimes Involving Women and Children at the Teachers Conference Center in Batangas City, September 2-4, 2009.

PCSUPT Yolanda G. Tanigue presented the agenda for the three-day seminar. The first day was a lecture on police blotter, investigator’s notebook, handling the media, review of criminal procedure, language development, forensic interview, medico legal exam, and referral system. The second day focused on forensic interview practicum, crime scene investigation practicum, laws on women and children, and submission of reports. The third day was about testifying in court practicum, critiques, post test, and graduation.

Tanigue shared the importance of the said seminar for Women and Children’s Desk Officers to inform them of the new approved laws such as the Magna Carta for Women and Republic Act 9344 or the Juvenile Justice Act.

Mila Espanola, head of the City Social Welfare and Development Office, conveyed the significance of the partnership between the police force and the social workers on filing court cases and their other roles such as preparation of social case study report and legal assistance to families who are in need.

Gracing the opening ceremony were Police Director Jesus Gatchalian, PSINSP Grace Yerro-Naparato (Chief, WCPD-PRO 4A), and Luz Amparo on behalf of Mayor Eduardo Dimacuha.
