Quick tips on how to prepare for September 2009 LET

It’s only three weeks to go before the September 2009 Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) comes. The most dreaded day for aspiring teachers will be in Sept. 27 under the Professional Regulation Commission. And oh, I’m as nervous as anybody else.

Let me share some tips for my fellow Education graduates who will take the upcoming board exam.

If you have a review center, that’s one advantage for you. Aside from getting a well-planned review, I’m sure they will also give some tips and strategies on how to ace the exam.

If you are not enrolled in a review center, you can purchase reviewers from the nearest bookstore. Make sure to buy a reviewer that has lectures in General Education and Professional Education subjects, test questions with answer keys and rationalization. Try to look for the newest edition for more recent updates.

If you are more interested in online review, you can also do so. There are some review centers who offer this; you just have to be patient and be a little inquisitive on checking the review center’s background and performance.

Though it’s barely a month before the board exam, don’t let the stress get into you! Allot some time in your busy schedule to unwind. Go out with friends, visit the salon, watch movies, and consider having a good hearty laugh as everyday supplement. It’s okay to be scared. As what my former professor told me months ago, if you become scared of the exam, you will do everything to overcome it by studying hard. Sometimes it isn’t that healthy to be too confident because enough preparation might be taken for granted.

And above all, pray. The Lord’s guidance would be your greatest armour to survive in this very crucial yet very important battle you must conquer. But still, the sweet success depends on the effort you have exerted. So work hard, keep the faith, and breathe…. That license to teach won’t be too far away from reality.

  1. When recalling the LET I took some years ago, the first thing I remember was the way that my butt got numbed during the afternoon of the whole day examination. I was already at my seat before 7:00am, got a 30 minute lunch break, and finished the exam a few minutes before 7:00pm. Whew! Can you imagine the mental and physical torture. Good thing, the proctors we have that day are not so strict with our sitting postures. I was slouching, almost lying in bed, with my legs straightened. At times, I’m taking off my shoes and putting my feet on the chair. There’s also a lot of reading and I can’t remember just how many short stories were there. Math is easy, there’s the calculator! (Thank God! coz I really hate math). Professional Education is the most tricky one and honestly, I just made a wild guess on most of my answers there. With my major (Physical Science), there were many questions from my reviewer which came out on the exam. Galing! Nakapasa ako!
