Around a decade ago, Gotohan sa Barangay was a humble eatery – it was just an extension of the owner’s house where screens were covering the upper half of the area (so insects such as flies and mosquitoes won’t get in).
Now, Gotohan sa Barangay transformed into a two-storey restaurant – furnished with better looking dining tables and chairs far from what it was like when it became known to the public. But long-time fans of Gotohan still have the same reason why they keep coming back – it’s basically because of their well-loved goto (soup with either innards of beef or plain meat), what else?
Located a few meters away from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel church, this local restaurant in Lipa City has been patronized not just by Lipeños but by people from other towns as well.
Everytime we would attend mass at the Carmel church, we would dine at the Gotohan afterwards. And for so many years now, I have been eating the same thing – goto and bitukang mura. I like the goto lamang loob than goto laman though. It was also in Gotohan where I got hooked with bitukang mura.
The best thing about dining in Gotohan sa Barangay is how they have kept the taste of their specialties after all these years of catering the cravings of Batangueños for good, authentic food. And the next best thing? The price range that won’t cost you too much in return of delectable and fine dining experience.
It’s a whole lot better if you visit Gotohan sa Barangay with your family and friends. The more the merrier. Then take a table on the second floor. It’s like eating somewhere afar from Lipa City – nice ambience.
