Capturing Taal’s Cultural Heritage

Did you know?

Did you know that Taal celebrated their festival last April 28-30, 2011? Empanada, Embutido, Longganisa, PAnutsa, SUman, BArong, Balisong, Tapa, Tulingan, Tawilis at Tamalis — these are the local products that makes EL PASUBAT Festival the town’s first summer festival in Taal Batangas. In this festival, they showcased their rich and distinct culture as part of the celebration of Taal’s 439th Foundation Year.

The Grand Parade.

On the 30th day of April, the WOWBatangas team dashed to Taal to witness the Grand Parade which will be held in the morning. Happily, the team got there on time and saw the start of the parade. The parade was good — the cute little dancing students from various schools were enjoyable to watch.

I took photos of what really caught my interest — faces of happy children. Even if they were under the sun, dancing with joy, when I faced the camera to them, they smile, which I found very cute and admirable. I wish I can dance with them too to have the same happiness that I have seen on their faces.

What is Visita De Las Casas?
This is a project of Taal Active Alliance Legion, a non government organization which preserves Taal’s heritage houses. This org let us experience the magnificence of the past as we went through the different Casa in Taal. Taking pictures on heritage houses was not my interest, but when I got inside those houses, my camera starts to flash again. Those antique furniture and paintings were marvelous. We visited 11 houses, Goco House, Villa Severina, Estacio Ancestral House, Orosa House, Villavicencio House, Casa Ofelia, Wedding Gift House, Gregorio Agoncillo Mansion, Casa Conchita, Cabrera House, and Casa Punzalan. The memory of those houses was stored on my camera.

As a photographer of the team, taking and choosing pictures that will be use as content on WOWBatangas.com was very hard. This is my first photography task for the team that’s why I was pressured while taking those pictures. While taking pictures, I realized that my photography skills weren’t that good enough, but I learned so much on that festival, especially the color balance effects.
