The Coffee Sack Cafe is a newly-opened coffee shop that serves quality brewed coffee and cold drinks with delicious cupcakes, sandwiches and pasta. They are located in San Sebastian Village, Brgy 3, Tanauan City, Batangas, near the front gate of FAITH Colleges.

The Founders

Erick Rivera , MJ Sayaman and Sean “Cabs” Cabrera were classmates in CCA Katipunan way back 2014-2016 and are equally passionate about food and the restaurant business. After graduation, they went their separate ways putting up businesses as well as accepting jobs in the food industry.

Last year MJ saw an opportunity to put up his dream coffee shop when his parents offered him a commercial space in their Tanauan building. He partnered up with his classmates and got to work in conceptualizing the business, R&D, sourcing of suppliers, building the menu, and finally remodeling the coffee shop space itself. The founders are well-financed and are advised by family members who are entrepreneurs.

At such a young age, these guys are showing determination in learning and taking risks in the business industry. Their passion in cooking put them to where they are now and by putting their heart into it. Their team shows a great example of tight partnership thru friendship.

The Coffee Shop

Coffee Sack occupies the first floor of a prime commercial space about a 100 meter walk from FAITH, Daniel Mercado Hospital, and the old Tanauan City Hall.

The cafe-style place is spacious, and they have a couch that accommodates 10 people for barkada hang-outs. The cafe is also perfect for small business meet-ups because it has these nooks and corners that affords you some privacy.

The owners really want a rustic and homey vibe kind of coffee shop. They play classic songs, the materials used in their furnitures and the interior can be defined as homey vibe.

For bigger groups, they have a conference/ meeting room that can accommodate 20 people at an affordable rate of P1800 for four hours, with unlimited coffee!

Their menu includes:

Sandwich (Php 90)

  • Tuna with chips
  • Ham with chips
  • Cuban Sandwich

Pasta (Php 145)

  • Pesto
  • Carbonara
  • Bolognese

Coffee (Php 55)

  • Brewed Coffee
  • French Vanilla
  • Caffe Latte
  • Cappuccino
  • Cafe Americano
  • Mocha

Milkshake (Php 110)

The Specialty

For sandwich lovers, the Cuban is a must-try and one that will make you come back. It is a grilled sandwich with ham, pulled pork, cheese with an amazing spicy sauce that blends into a meaty and delicious bite.

Reviews:

“Excellent coffee + great food + cozy place + very accomodating staff. Definitely one of my go-to places! Cuban sandwich with coffee for the win!!” – Darlene Panghulan, one of the first customers

“I think the concept of the coffee shop shows the personality of the owners by the color and the type of materials used in the cafe which is very strong, the food and its prices are of quality type and very student budget meals. Lastly, the ambience is really homey and class.” – KP Santos, Publishing Editor, WOWBatangas Directory

Vilma’s Lechon is a family run business located in Brgy. Bolbok, Lipa City, with a branch in Darasa, Tanauan City, which provides crispy and delicious Lechong Baboy and Lechong Baka with their signature sauce.

The History

Inspired by the legacy left by their parents, Vilma’s Lechon was conceptualized in the 1970s through the hard works of Mr. Felix Leynes and Mrs. Vilma Leynes. Before putting up the lechon business, Mr. Felix Leynes used to supply pigs to one of the most popular Lechon establishments in Manila where he learned the tricks of the trade, eventually put up his own.

In 1983, Vilma’s Lechon was formally opened to the public. Like any other startups, it was not a smooth sail at first. They had their fair share of non-paying customers and scammers. Nonetheless, through continuous innovations and catching of the trend and staying resilient, the establishment was able to overcome these setbacks.

The Lechon

The secret, as per Vilma’s Lechon, is in the pig and cow itself. Mr. Felix Leynes, up to this day, still personally does the trade and quality control of their primary ingredient.

Procedure
Upon arrival from the city’s slaughterhouse, the carcass is first inspected and goes through secondary cleaning. Then, it is affixed on a steel pole and then stuffed with a mixture of herbs and spices. (They are also open to clients’ special requests in terms of flavorings and stuffing.) Once sewn up, the carcass is rubbed with a combination of milk and water which gives the lechon that enticing red color. The pig is roasted over charcoal fire for around two and a half hours – depending on size – while continuously lathered with oil.

As for the lechong baka, after being slaughtered, it is affixed on a specially produced steel pole. Unlike with Lechon Baboy, the taste of the Lechong Baka does not come from the stuffing but from a specially concocted marinate that has been with the family for years. It is then roasted over charcoal fire and checked from time to time.

Their famous sauce, on one hand, has gone through years of experimenting and perfecting to ensure that it would stand out among its competitors.

The Staff

They are really friendly and accommodating. Since it is a family owned business and their home serve as the primary business center, the whole family has had a habit of personally catering to their clients’ needs, together with their equally accommodating staff. Despite unpleasant and sometimes depleting experiences with previous customers, they still strive to provide their customers with the best tasting lechon for their festivities and occasions.

Eatery

Later on, Mrs. Vilma Leynes decided to open an eatery to go along their lechon business. They serve house specialties like lechon, lechong paksiw, and dinuguan.

Client

Over the years, they were able to supply lechon to popular resorts, companies, and fiestas not just in the province of Batangas but also in Metro Manila and other neighboring provinces. They have also had clients who brought the product overseas.

Definitely, no one can say no to Yeiz Tea Taiwan Milk Tea and Fruit Tea. Yes, this is another milk tea shop review but it tastes like no others!

Opened in a corner beside Lipa City Colleges, Yeiz Tea boasts of their perfect blend of milk tea flavors and smoothies.

It’s another milk tea craze to include in our bucket lists to try on!

About the Owner

[gallery link="file" ids="52804,52806,52802,52803,52805"]

Engr. Yesly Amor Maglinao Bustria is the owner of Yeiz Tea, an own brand of milk tea shop that mixes tastes in Lipa City. She is a Licensed  Geodetic Engr., Owner of Bustria Land Surveying, Licensed Real Estate Broker and the current Director for Geodetic Engineer Batangas Chapter.

She really loves milk teas and the idea of having a shop, after a failed supposed franchise of a milk tea brand because of some legal matters, she entered an idea of establishing her own brand instead. She trained in Manila for Milk Tea, Fruitea and Smoothie making.

Engr. Yesly made sure that the tastes of Yeiztea products are modified depending on her taste preference and what she really thinks people would love too.

About the Business

[gallery link="file" ids="52808,52810,52809"]

Yeiz Tea Taiwan Milk Tea & Fruitea is an own brand of milk tea shop located at Solis St, Cor. Katigbak St., Brgy 11, Lipa City. Last September 18,2019 was its grand opening.

The shop’s name is basically derived from the name of the owner, Engr. Yesly since her college friends used to call her “yeiz” and it has been the suggestion of her sisters.

It offers a variety of sips falling under Milk Teas, Fruiteas, Hot Teas, Smoothies and Pica pica. The staff are happily serving customers with their favorite sips.

Yeiz tea’s patron customers are students and those people who really love their milk teas and all.

For Yeiz Tea’s Loyal customers, they introduced the loyal tea metallic cards that once they filled the 12 slots, the customers are entitled to free milk tea.

Last November 1 they launched the “free 12*12 pillow every end of the month” , that for every purchase is equivalent to 1 raffle entry. Items to be given changes monthly.

Aside from her love for Milkteas, Engr. Yesly is fond of singing, in fact she is planning to have a mini bar or an open stage at the second floor of the shop for customers to freely sing while waiting for their orders and also a conference area for business purposes, she wanted to make this happen before the year ends, or early next year.

Engr. Yesly also mentioned that Yeiz Tea will be opened for franchise soon.
