Here in Batangas, SM City Lipa and SM City Batangas prepared another one-of-a-kind launching. Great performances from local artists and musicians and intricately designed Christmas decors awed Batangueno shoppers.

The event was also accomplished to pay tribute to the youngest customers of SM Supermalls which for them serve as their inspiration.

So let us celebrate this season at SM Supermalls. Enjoy shopping and don’t forget to drop by at the Christmas Center Piece area of SM City Batangas and SM City Lipa and have your memorable photos taken.

Lipa is the 20th city to host the My City, My SM campaign of SM Supermalls which was conceived to show off the gems of the cities where branches of the shopping mall are located. And in that one fine evening, the art deco-styled atrium of SM City Lipa became center stage for some of Lipa’s finest people.

This My City, My SM campaign is intertwined with another one – the I Love Lipa campaign which is intended to strengthen Lipeños’ pride and patriotism.

July 8, 2011 was a momentous date for what this campaign dubs as endorsers slash ambassadors of the bests of Lipa City.

The first recognized Lipeño is Dr. Bienvenido Lumbera. The Ramon Magsaysay Awardee for Journalism and National Artist for Literature was given a very appropriate recognition and a tribute done by ARTIST Inc. which celebrated a few of his works.

“Ang puso ko ay palaging nakabaon sa lupa ng ating mga ninuno,” said Dr. Lumbera. His works such as Umaga sa Lipa, Ang Pinoy, Noong Unang Panahon from the critically acclaimed the Tales of the Manuvu were highlighted in the event.

Aside from Dr. Lumbera, four more Lipeños received commendation for their exemplary achievements as young members of the society. They are from one of the most prominent clan in Lipa City — the Katigbaks — Paolo, Cayo, Keena, and Andrei.

Paolo is the Executive Vice President and General Manager of Batangas-Laguna Autocenter, Inc. (Kia BALAI). Cayo is a Development Communication graduate of the University of the Philippines – Los Baños while Andrei is a Culinary Arts student. Keena, the only lady on the list is Mutya ng Lipa 2011 who is currently pursuing a degree in dentistry at Centro Escolar University.

Also present in this gathering is Lipa City’s main man, Mayor Meynard Sabili who received the AVP of the city presented by SM City Lipa. Gracing the event as well is Lilet Dimayuga-Malabanan, a direct descendant of Segunda Katigbak, Dr. Jose Rizal’s first love.

Kudos to the administration of SM City Lipa for holding the My City, My SM campaign and may you continue helping the community uplift its finest components.

After lunch, we headed to SM City Lipa for a Christmas party organized by SM Foundation and people from SM City Lipa Admin Office. This event is for the benefit of 200 children from various parts of Lipa City.

The event is anchored on SM Foundation and SM Supermalls’ Make a Child Happy, Share-a-Toy campaign. According to our conversation with SM Foundation Project Coordinator Dalfhen S. Samson, this is an annual project participated by selected SM Supermalls. SM City Lipa is one of the selected SM Supermalls for this year where a Christmas party will transpire for their chosen beneficiaries.

The kids were from Lipa Archdiocese Social Action Commission (LASAC), from Sagip Eskwela (indigent children sent to school by DSWD), from Banay-Banay, and Bulacnin. Some of them were street children who sell sampaguita around the metro.

Through Ms. Wendy Cueto-Bautista, PR Officer of SM City Lipa, WOWBatangas Team was given the chance to take part in this fun-filled event. Gerlie co-hosted the event alongside Ms. Wendy, Alva took photos, while JR and I helped out in the games. Thanks to our OJTs Cathy and Rachel for taking some of the tasks.

This Christmas party contributed in those children’s happiness, even just for today. There were games where the kids actively participated, goodies and tiny trinkets as prizes to take home, and free ice cream from Mr. Softy Ice Cream and glitter tattoo courtesy of NCY Photo Booth and Accessories. Happily Ever After made the young at hearts (including us) a bit happier with their photo booth.

But what delighted them the most were the appearances of Jollibee and Young Ronald McDonald’s mascots (of course they appeared solo, haha) and the highlight of the party – the gift giving.

All of them received toys from SM Foundation and SM City Lipa. It’s always a joyful moment seeing kids open gifts. The smile on a child’s face is priceless and surely one of the most endearing things in the world.

The Make a Child Happy, Share-a-Toy campaign of selected SM Supermalls will run until January 5, 2010. You can drop your toy donations on their booth across the Food Court, 2nd floor.

Again, we would like to thank SM City Lipa for allowing WOWBatangas Team to be part of this gleeful event. This is an early Christmas treat for the kids. The event turned our hearts joyful. It was like bringing our childhood memories and our juvenile perspectives of the true meaning of Christmas.

It was a night of carols and warm, blissful spirits as SM City Lipa officially welcomed the Christmas season with the unveiling of the SM City Lipa Christmas Village, Nov. 6.

This was a simultaneous event which happened in all SM Supermalls nationwide. The pre-program featured young violinists and singers who serenaded the growing number of audience around five in the afternoon. Also present in the event is Provincial Tourism Officer Mr. Pancho Lardizabal, Lipa City Tourism Council Chairman Mr. Alex Maralit, and Lipa City Administrator Atty. Leo Latido.

The SM City Lipa family were all clad in red as they welcome the guests gathered at the Event Center. Ballerinas from the Lipa Ballet School and mascots of different mall tenants paraded around the mall area, signalling the countdown to the grand unveiling of the Christmas village.

SM City Lipa Assistant Mall Manager, Mr. John Mauhay read the welcome speech which was also read in all SM Supermalls. The ballerinas were the ones who unveiled the huge curtains concealing the Christmas village. Applauses and cheers dominated the Event Center when the audience saw the houses and Christmas trees, and Snowman and Santa Claus.

Then Volce Choir sang all-time favorite Christmas carols before Santa Claus gave gifts to the children in the audience. Two other choirs performed – The Mabini Academy Choir and Divino Amor Choir.

Starting today, November 6, SM City Lipa mallgoers can enjoy taking pictures of themselves in the Christmas Village. Christmas has started here, at SM City Batangas, and in all SM Supermalls around the country. Merry ChriSM everyone! Cheers!
