All contestants as shown in the Philippine television were craving for the PGT season 3 Champion title.

Of course magpapahuli ba naman ang mga Batangueno? Yes, there are lots of Batanguenos who tried their luck for said competition.

Fortunately, from the thousands of auditionees, a group from Batangas made it to the Finals.

The first group to enter PGT finals is none other than the El Gamma Penumbra group. The viewers were captivated with their unique performance from audition to semi-finals.

All the way from Tanauan City, Batangas, the group showed a majestic performance with their creative shadow play.

When I saw them performing during auditions and semi finals of PGT, I was really amazed and so were the other viewers I know. I’m glad that they were the first finalist to compete for the PGT Grand Finals.

Will they step next to Jovit Baldivino? Hope so.

Well, with our support and their determination, it’s not impossible for them to win. Good luck and more power El Gamma Penumbra!

“Lahat na lang bina-ban” – I read this last night on my Facebook newsfeed. Do you think there’s fairness in this banning issue?

Maybe because I only get to watch television at night that I didn’t notice that the adorable McDo BF-GF commercial isn’t airing anymore. Last week, a lot of people shared this TVC on various social networking sites. Apparently, Filipino viewers liked it. Who wouldn’t? Oh, Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines.

As you know, CBCP called the attention of the food chain giant because of the alleged inappropriate message conveyed by this BF-GF TVC to Filipino kids. That’s point number 1. Point number 2, the TVC allegedly exhibits superficiality of relationships which disregards commitment and proper wooing of a lady (heck, they feature little kids). Point number 3, the kids are too young to talk about relationships and even engage in one.

We get McDonald’s side. They came up with this concept because it’s cute, because it can caught the attention and the hearts of people. And they did it. McDonald’s, through the years, had come up with good advertisements. With this BF-GF commercial, what McDo wants to point out is the cheapness of their fries. Unfortunately, other people associated that ‘cheapness’ idea to the story of the kids in this commercial.

I read comments on blogs regarding the banning of this McDo BF-GF commercial. What about the sexy commercials aired on TV which kids are able to see?

If this McDo commercial (with the same concept and all) featured models who are in their 20s or 30s, will CBCP ask McDonald’s to stop airing it?

I guess entertainment, advertising, and censorship won’t gel together that easy. Ever.

Are you a solid Kapamilya? A true-blue Kapuso? Or a happy Kapatid? Or a diversified viewer who touches the remote control button to three or more channels in a five-minute interval?

Since when did the best television network battle emerge? The people roaming around in the entertainment circus circle are now labelled as Kapamilya, Kapatid, or Kapuso, or the what I would call ‘the wanderers’ – those who are not signed for an exclusive contract with any of the country’s biggest networks.

At home, we are a mix of Kapatid, Kapuso, and Kapamilya. And then at times Kabarkada (as my brother and I tune in to Studio 23). We kind of don’t care as to what network are we contributing much audience share. I mean, do you care?

I don’t know how they gauge their TV ratings so I would just settle with simply asking you.

We tune in to these networks for various reasons: (1) because of the exclusive contract stars they have, (2) because of the kind of programs they feature, (3) because it’s the only network which has the strongest reception in your area.

The third reason, I supposed, has the greatest impact on television viewers. Why? ‘Cause even if you want to follow the story of Mateo and Lia but the reception signal of ABS-CBN is just too annoying, you would resort to following the Baker King or Nagbabagang Bulaklak. Got it?

I don’t know in other parts of Batangas but in our locality, mukhang malinaw naman ang mga channel na ito.

It’s understandable that these big networks are still existing because they are doing something a lot of things worth millions of money just to stay on air, just to have every Best Television Network award there is, just to gain the biggest percentage of nationwide audience share, just to keep the stars that make the network shine the brightest. And it’s not just as simple as that.

But for us, who sit how many hours in front of the television, we only care for the lesser complicated things – to be entertained. Sometimes, I even turn on the TV just to have a source of noise in the room while I’m doing something else.

Batangueños, just like any other Filipinos here and abroad, only want good kind of entertainment – unless we’re working for any of these leading television networks.

Jovit received three yeses from the judges (Kris Aquino, Ai Ai Delas Alas, and Freddie Garcia) with his amazing talent. I saw the said episode and I was just so amazed. My dad can’t get over with Jovit’s voice as he kept saying “ang galing talaga!” even after the show.

It was not only his voice that touched the hearts of the people in the venue (the audition was held in University of Batangas) but his life story as well. His father just recovered from tuberculosis and his mother doesn’t have a job. So to help his family, he sells siomai every afternoon after class. Kris asked Jovit if he really wants to become a singer and the humble boy answered yes, if given the chance, but what he really wants to achieve is to finish his studies.

Jovit added that it would be just fine if he wouldn’t succeed in Pilipinas Got Talent, what matters to him is that he was able to show the people the talent of a genuine Filipino. With that, we salute Jovit Baldivino for making Batanguenos proud.

It was official. The list of PBB Season 3 housemates is already complete. The official number of housemates was not yet announced though. So I guess we just have to wait until Kuya opens his house again.

Thousands of Batangueno hopefuls auditioned for this season. Did any of them make it to the final list of housemates? Will there be another fellow Batangueno to follow the footsteps of Season 1 Big Four Jayson Gainza?

Don’t worry folks, because the long wait is over. The PBB house will open its door to welcome the new set of housemates this Sunday, October 4, 2009. Loads of exciting surprises await the housemates as PBB Season 3 goes Double Up!

The world awaits to witness this year’s parade of candidates from 84 countries all vying for the 2009 Miss Universe crown. The pageant’s 58th year is set to happen at the Imperial Ballroom, Atlantis, Paradise Island, Bahamas and will be telecasted live via satellite on August 23, 2009 (Aug.24, 9:30 a.m., Manila time).

Reviews on the 84 Ms. Universe 2009 candidates have been posted on different blogsites and Ms. Philippines, Bianca Manalo, has been earning good comments. As of today, Bianca Manalo sits on the 7th spot of Miss Universe official website’s highest ranking candidates. It’s not surprising since Bianca belongs to a family of beauty queens. Her older sister, Katherine Anne Manalo-Hernandez, was among the Miss World 2002′s Top 10 finalists and her aunt, Nini Ramos was one of the 15 semi-finalists in Miss International 1968.

The competition’s judging process undergone different changes through the years. Since 2007, 15 semi-finalists will vie once more for the swimsuit competition and 10 will be chosen to move on to the long gown competition. Half of them who got the highest average will be the top five finalists who will answer a question from a judge from which the Ms. Universe title holder and the runners-up will emerge.

Will Bianca Manalo be the 58th Ms. Universe? Catch Miss Universe 2009 simulcast airing on ABS-CBN, on Aug. 24, Monday at 9:30 in the morning.

Puntong Al Eh! launched its pilot episode on Aug.12, 1996 and returned on air July 23, 2008 after a year’s break due to the maintenance of cable tv outlets. To date, the program had aired almost a thousand episodes, sufficing the needs of the locals of the current issues, events, and relevant public information throughout the years.

On its first year of come back, Puntong Ala Eh! featured some notable events such as Batangas being the national site of the World Environment Day; Ronilito Paring’s First Sea Kayak Expedition; Batanguenos’ participation on the Earth Hour; the Manny Pacquiao-Ricky Hatton fight; the healing priest, Fr. Fernando Suarez’ visit; the latest, the mass offered for the late president and Mother of Democracy, Corazon Aquino.

After a decade on the local cable channel, Puntong Ala Eh! will continue to be part of the local news and public affairs scene for the service of every Batangueno.

Magalona, 44, did not endure multiple organ failure secondary to severe sepsis and secondary to pneumonia, and passed away at 12 noon yesterday

As reported months ago, Magalona had been undergoing several chemotherapy sessions since he was diagnosed with leukemia in August last year but was too weak to fight the infection.

Magalona started his career as a break dancer in the early 1980s before appearing in several movies, including a lead role in Viva Films “Bagets 2.” He then worked as a disc jockey for the defunct radio station DMZ in the late 80s and then ventured into TV hosting, as a regular of the noontime show “Eat…Bulaga!” and a VJ for MTV Asia. He was also a judge in “Philippine Idol” the original local franchise of the international Fremantle reality singing talent search.

Magalona’s remains lie in state at the Christ the King church in Greenmeadows, Quezon City. According to wife Pia, Magalona’s wake will be open to the public starting at 6 a.m. Saturday. source: Philippine Daily Inquirer (Gerry Plaza)

All roads led to Lipa yesterday, March 1, 2009. This was of course because of the PBB or the Pinoy Big Brother and the PDA or the Pinoy Dream Academy auditions held at the Lipa City Colleges.

As expected, thousands of people from all walks of life tried their luck to be one of those lucky individuals who will have the chance to stay at Kuya’s house and have an instant ticket to fame.
