Here are some of the photos and event highlights of the recently concluded Bb. Lungsod ng Batangas 2012 Pageant.

Presenting the Bb. Lungsod ng Batangas 2012 in their long gowns designed by Renee Salud, where Ms. Luningning M. Manguerra from Barangay Ilijan won the Best in Long Gown.

John Lloyd Cruz, one of the big stars of Kapamilya network was also there as a special guest at the Bb. Lungsod ng Batangas 2012 Pageant. He was joined by the pageant hosts Tin-Tin Caballero and Noel Silang.

Pageant for a Cause, Lipa City Eco-Gay 2012

Lipa City Fiesta will not be complete without the participation of Ala -Eh Gay Lipenos. And yesterday the annual Eco-Gay competition pageant and coronation night was held at SM City Lipa Event Center.

Ten lovely gays competed for this year’s title. The following are the contestants:

Rexie Luancing, the President of Ala-Eh Gay Lipenos, said “We are not doing this pageant just for prestige. We do this because we want to share our talents and to help fellow Lipenos who are in need. Katulad po noong nakaraang taon, bahagi po ng nakalap naming pondo ay itinulong namin sa ilang pasyente ng Granja Hospital. Kami ay nakiki-isa sa layunin ng lokal na pamahalaan sa pagtulong sa mga nangangailangan at gayundin sa pagsalba sa kalikasan.”

Lipa Eco- Gay Pageant winners were judged according to the following:
40% – Money Contribution
15% – Talent
15% – Intelligence
10% – White Fashionista
10% – Eco Costume
10% – Evening Gown

In the end, Christopher Maranan a.k.a. Cindy took home the title. Special award winners will be posted later.

The event was attended by Hon. Mayor Meynard Sabili; Mr. Dindo Katigbak, President of Lipa City Fiesta Committee; Mr. Alex Maralit of Lipa Tourism Council; Hon. Ma. Concepcion Hernandez and some Lipa City Hall officers and staff.

Miss Mataasnakahoy 2012 Pageant Night Crowns Honey Vanessa Ramirez of Brgy.IV

She may not have the most number of special awards but she outwit the other 13 candidates and bagged the title. Honey Vanessa Ramirez of Brgy. IV is the newly crowned Miss Mataasnakahoy 2012.

Over-all, it was a good competition. All the girls were at their loveliest last night which made all their stage appearances the much-anticipated parts of the event.

Aside from the Talent and the Creative Costume Competitions (see photos in this link) which was held last Dec. 30, the candidates also competed in the Sexy Outfit and Modern Filipiniana Gown competitions last night.

The girls were given gift packages from Mary Kay and Hershey’s courtesy of Jerome Ticatic.

The first question and answer portion was for the rest of the candidates. They handpicked the questions, some trivial, some very pageant-ish.

Shortly before the announcement of the TOP 7 finalists, the girls paraded on stage clad in red, black, and white evening gowns courtesy of Janine Fashion Collection.

It was the final Q&A that helped the judges to conclude the pageant’s results. This was where Vanessa answered the question in stride. She was asked what and when her best moment is. Vanessa replied that it was joining the Miss Mataasnakahoy 2012 pageant that she considered her best moment where she was given the chance to represent her barangay and the opportunity to prove herself deserving the slot and and the title.

Miss Sto. Tomas, Mary Rose Pujanes, Wins Mutya ng Batangan 2011

Nineteen years old, Mary Rose Pujanes of Sto. Tomas won the crown of Mutya ng Batangan 2011. She bested the other 25 candidates who vied for the title. Apart from the Mutya ng Batangan 2011 title, Mary Rose bagged some special awards such as Ms. Startoll and Ms. Moringa O2.

Completing the Final 5 are: Miss Tanauan City, Valiry Van Vispo – 1st Runner-Up and Mutya ng Turismo; Miss San Nicolas, Cristine Angel Alvaira – 2nd Runner-up and Mutya ng Kalikasan; Miss Balete, Kathleen Gomez – 3rd Runner-Up; Miss Padre Garcia, Shiela Mae Autor – 4th Runner-Up.

These Final 5 were joined by Miss San Jose (Carmina Marcaida), Miss Cuenca (Jazzy Rose Sañez), Miss Tingloy (Rhacia Wena Bagos), Miss Talisay (Anne Janelle Carasig), and Miss Lipa City (Erika Fae Casanova) in the Top 10.

It was a huge production for the Mutya ng Batangan 2011 pageant night. The VIPs present were Gov. Vilma Santos-Recto, Vice Governor Mark Leviste (who was one of the hosts), Provincial Board Members, and mayors from various municipalities and cities of the province.

If the production and the guests were that big time, the judges were notable personalities from the pageant world and the fashion industry. The judges in last night’s pageant were young and in demand fashion designers of the country, Veejay Floresca; beauty queen, Binibining Pilipinas 2010 candidate, Roanne Aguilar; Teen Queen of Asia & Oceania in Miss Global Teen 2010, Mariella Castillo; Jam Charish Libatog; model/actress, Wilma Doesnt; renowned fashion designer and pageant director, Rene Salud; former beauty queen and lifestyle show host, Cory Quirino.

Philippines’ Shamcey Supsup, Bags Third Runner Up Honors in Miss Universe 2011

“If I had to change my religious beliefs, I would not marry the person that I love because the first person I love is God, who created me. I have my faith and my principles, and this is what makes me who I am. And if that person loves me, he should love my God, too”, answered Ms. Shamcey Supsup on the lauded Miss Universe 2011 where she bagged the 3rd runner up award.

Now I bet a gazillion men are googling the religious beliefs of Shamcey and probably are planning on shifting religions to love her *and* her God even more.

Fair enough, we believe Ms. Shamcey Supsup, even minus the crown, is a great woman.

Shamcey , a 25 year old resident of General Santos City , is a valedictorian of her grade school batch, and was salutatorian of her high school batch at the Makati High School. Supsup graduated magna cum laude from the University of the Philippines and topped the 2010 Architect Licensure Examination. (-wikipedia.org)

Looks? Smarts? I mean, Miss Shamcey is the epitome of a fine woman.

Now being a second to Brazil’s (Priscila Machado) , Ukraine’s (Olesya Stefanko) and Angola’s (Leila Lopes) bet might be a tad too disappointing. We all thought ours was the best, didn’t we?

Anyway, her having presented our country and our culture best is the thing that very counts.

September 13, 2011 gives us another reason to love and appreciate the Filipino culture even more.

Thanks to Shamcey’s recognition of the fine heritage of the Filipino culture— where religion can’t be defied by anyone.

Erika Fae Casanova is the new Miss Lipa Tourism 2011

Due to a controversy regarding her residency in Lipa, Kathleen T. Gomez, winner of the recently concluded Miss Lipa Tourism 2011, humbly bequeathed her crown to the 1st Runner-up, Erika Fae Casanova.

The conferment of the title of the Miss Lipa Tourism 2011 to Ms. Casanova was announced during the flag ceremony held at the Lipa City Municipal Hall on July 18, 2011.

The 17-year-old Erica Fae Casanova is from Brgy. Marawoy, Lipa City. She is currently taking up Business Administration at the Lyceum of the Philippines University – Laguna.

During the pageant night of Miss Lipa Tourism 2011, as candidate no. 5, she won two special awards: Best in Swimsuit and Best in Talent.

Kathleen Gomez of Bulacnin wins Miss Lipa Tourism 2011

17 year-old Kathleen Gomez was hailed winner of the pompous Miss Lipa Tourism 2011 held last night, June 19, at the Lipa City Plaza Indepencia. This event was the highlight of the 64^th Lipa City foundation week celebration.

As candidate no. 8 and representative of Brgy. Bulacnin, she outshone the other 11 contestants who competed in this year’s pageant.

Kathleen is currently a 2nd-year BS Tourism student of First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities.

Aside from the title of Miss Lipa Tourism, she also holds the title of this year’s Bb. Lipa-Foundation. She also gathered three special awards: Best in Gown, Miss Star Tourism, and Miss Photogenic.

As Miss Lipa Tourism 2011, Kathleen is entitled to certain privileges such as: being an honorary/associate member of the Lipa City Tourism and Museum Council, official representative for the Mutya ng Batangan 2011 and she would be the delegate of the city for the other prestigious national beauty competitions. Moreover, her most important role is to take pride in promoting the city’s wonderful attractions and cultural heritage.

Leslie Ann Amada of Barangay Namunga is Mutya ng Rosario 2011

Batangas is truly blessed with beautiful people. And the town of Rosario is not an exception.

Otherwise the celebration of the grandiose Mutya ng Rosario 2011 wouldn’t be possible.

Twenty three gorgeous women joined the said contest—women with stand out physique and well- heeled intellect.

The candidates first wowed the crowd as they ramped the stage ala goddesses as they wore intricate violet robes and crowns of fauna.

Each candidate represented a certain barangay.

True enough, every candidate is backed up by hundreds of their ka- barangays and their support was evident on the deafening screams which were heard every time their respective bets appears.

Remarks from Elizabeth Marfe and Mayor Sandy Javier of Leyte which delved on the relevance of 324th founding anniversary of the municipality and the beauty of Rosario were given before the almost rowdy Rosarians.

Those were talks which were, I think, timely for the crowd was going gaga on screaming their hearts out. The further ados helped in taming the very eager fans.

But we were proved wrong because the next portion appeared to be the swim wear competition.

Colors of neon blue and pink effortlessly suited the bodies of the contestants.

Followed suit is the long gown competition. The contestants were elegant with Janine Hernandez’ Creations as they graced the stage with black, white and red long dresses. The contestants were also serenaded by Oliver Javier who did acoustic renditions of When I See you Smile by Bad English, Just The Way You Are and Marry You by Bruno Mars.

Announcement of the ten finalists and of the special award winners mummed the crowd as they awaited for the names of their bets to be called.

The judges are: Christine Mayor, Mutya ng Pilipinas Finalist;Sarah Jane Mercado of Ms Philippines Earth;Roger Basco, artist and educator ;and Chairman of the board of judges, Mr. Pancho Lardizabal, Tourism Officer of Batangas. Their judgement was based on Beauty of Face, Beauty of Figure and Talent.

The event was duly hosted by no less than the first Mutya ng Rosario herself, Ms. Emily Katigbak and pageant choreographer, Mr. Jun Magana.

Laurel Park which served as the event’s venue was nonetheless beautiful as the covered court was adorned with white cloths which highlighted the beauty of the contestants.

Darlene Dina, 2009 Mutya ng Rosario (the pageant is held every other year), was a bit reluctant to do the proverbial crown passing.

“Ayoko pa… nag-enjoy kasi ako saka napamahal na ako sa kanila (munispyo personnel)”, she told the WOW team half jokingly.

Darlene has also represented Rosario in Mutya ng Batangan 2009 and competed in Mutya ng Pilipinas in the same year.

The 5’’8’ beauty now works as a private nurse, a part time model in Manila, and an Ambassadress of Goodwill to her native Rosario.

But the fact that her successor is also from Namunga might have eased her emotions.

“Iba na yung magiging alaga ng taga munispyo pero nasa puso ko parin ang pagiging mutya ng Rosario” she said in her farewell speech. “At para dun sa mananalo, sana ganon din kayo ka close ng mga taga munispyo at ibigay nyo lahat ang makakaya ninyo para maisabuhay ang titulo“, she furthered.

Leslie Ann Amada will be Rosario’s representative to the Mutyang Batangan and would also serve as an Ambassadress of Goodwill of Rosario for two years.

Kudos to the organizers of this pageant and may we always promote the beautiful people of our beloved Batangas!
